About Us

Some organizations already know they have a great story but need help sounding it out. Others need help finding the story within their goals and the promise they are making to customers, clients or the public.

Stories are at the heart of our work. A strong narrative helps achieve clarity, engagement, and impact in communications.

Findlay et Al draws on experience in communications, leadership in major government agencies, stakeholder relations planning, political advice and journalism (covering all three levels of government) to make sure your story helps achieve your goals.

About Al

Storyteller, communications leader and mentor

Alan Findlay is a visionary communications leader and storyteller who brings to all his work a successful career in journalism and 15 years heading public-sector communications teams. Alan is dedicated to helping clients achieve clarity, engagement, and impact in their communications.

As a political journalist (Edmonton’s City Hall, Toronto’s Queen’s Park, Ottawa’s Parliament Hill), Al boiled complex issues down to concise, news-you-can-use narratives for readers. As a political advisor, Al provided key advice to Ministers on turning policy decisions into persuasive and memorable narratives.

For 15 years Al led the communications teams for two major government agencies (Infrastructure Ontario and Ontario Energy Board). His teams worked closely with several CEOs and executives, project partners and industry stakeholders to tell a story that demonstrated the agency’s value and impact to the public and taxpayers. A key part of that success was in building meaningful relationships with private-sector partners and industry and labour associations.

Throughout his professional journey, Al has cultivated a reputation as a mentor, fostering emerging talent and championing innovation in communication. His ability to adapt and excel across sectors underscores his resilience, agility and commitment to excellence.

Al is passionate about supporting local organizations committed to building a better community. He is currently a volunteer board member for Common Compass, a non-profit group providing custom programs for students and staff in Ontario schools to promote social emotional wellbeing and mental health.

He is a blessed husband and father of two amazing kids.

Al’s creative pursuits include personal writing and a budding side hustle making breadboards and furniture for friends and family.
